German chipmaker Infineon will commission a Thailand semiconductor plant on Oct. 1 in a project valued at over THB 48 bln (about $1.44 bln), the Thai Board of Investment said. The facility will house power-module manufacturing, semiconductor testing and an R&D center and will produce power modules for electric vehicles, energy systems and data centers. The project is expected to employ more than 5,000 local workers.
